This statue seems to belong to the early Etruscan period, for it contains influences from minor Asia – where the Etruscan people emmigrated from in the beginning of the 8th century – and has not Greek elements yet.  The Etruscan were a culturally rich civilization who lived in today's Italy before the Romans. Their culture may be considered as a transition between Greek and Roman art as they were greatly influenced by the first and influenced the latter.
