Material: Silver-gilt. Accession no: DG 044. Current Location: The Hunt Museum, Limerick. A rearing figure of a stag in silver-gilt. It is believed to be German or Austrian from the 16th century. The hind legs rest on an oval plinth decorated with flowers and leaf motifs. The front quarters are supported by a stem decorated with leaves. This item is hollow and the head can be removed; it was possibly used to hold wine or spirits. German or Austrian. More.
