I created this folding ring for the #selfCADchallenge. My idea was to use the #ImageTo3D tool with a low tolerance to remove all the extra geometry and only keep the pattern and then bending it using the bend tool with the Dynamic origin setting, to get a perfect 360-degree bend. I ended up using the following setting on the Image To 3D tool 1) Tolerance of 70 because using a lower tolerance was already removing some of the needed details 2) I used the antialiasing to get smoother edges 3) I did not use backside to keep one side smooth This came out very nicely but it still left some extra pieces in the side and it was not as smooth as I wanted, so used #cubeSelection to split the object and then I copied the smooth side and then used again cube selection to remove the extra geometry. Then I used the #MagicFix to make sure the object is manifold and then all I was left is to smooth the outside edges so I created a circular shape and used Stich and Scoop Intersection to cut out nicely rounded edges, Then I used bending, Then I used resolution "0" to removed extra faces and keep it as small possible. I was testing to use the Simplify tool but it started to remove some needed geometry but the resolution tool gave great results.
