This is a big 3D-printable model of a somewhat recognizable TV sci-fi robot originally designed by the brilliant designer Robert Kinoshita for Lost in Space. The model here is a labor of love created from scratch based on various reference sources. It's probably somewhat dimensionally inaccurate overall, but it 'looks right' to my eye. Or close enough. :) Let me say that this is not a build for those just starting out with 3D printing and probably not for those without a fairly large print bed (although, you can of course scale it as you see fit). But who am I to tell you no? Some of the parts will require a somewhat high resolution to print properly. Some parts will need supports, some won't. Unless it's a flat piece or has shallow overhangs, you might just assume it needs support to print. It's up to your experience to sort that out as you begin printing parts. Also, much of the assembly involves gluing parts together, so it will be a bit like building an advanced model kit. I've included an exploded view with part numbers and an assembled model. I have printed and assembled this model (except for the dome and treads) and was pleased with the outcome. It's about 288mm or 11.5 inches high. I've since tweaked some size/aesthetics (especially the 'girdle' and upper legs which were too large) to make it more accurate/better looking. Speaking of the dome... there's a solid version since printing a hollow, clear dome is, well, problematic unless you have an SLA printer and a lot of patience. That said, I'd love to see your builds if you do make one.
