YouTube rewards channels that surpass 100,000 subscribers with plaques. I just crossed 100 subscribers. Suffice it to say, there is no plaque in the mail. So I made my own. I used a WS2812B RGB light strip, an ESP8266 NodeMCU unit, and a couple 18650 batteries to power the lighting in this 3d-printed masterwork. Watch me make this thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fsO4miFWfo The diffusers snap into place (or require a bit of cyanoacrylate depending on your tolerances), magnet backers get a dab of cyanoacrylate and pop into the base, and the front plate goes on with a couple magnets. The rest should (hopefully) be relatively self-explanatory. The diffuser should be printed in a natural or otherwise translucent filament (I used glow in the dark because I didn't want to wait for an order of natrual PLA). The face plate looks best when printed on a bare glass bed, but your taste may vary. The little pegs that hold the ESP8266 and buck converter in place are pretty weak, but the components they're holding weigh next to nothing, so as long as you don't snap more than two, you're probably still golden. To control the lights, I used WLED on the ESP8266 following the guide on the wiki: https://github.com/Aircoookie/WLED/wiki Parts used (Affiliate links): RGB Light Strip: https://amzn.to/3tfNqyJ ESP8266: https://amzn.to/38Cjyof DC Step-Down Buck Converter: https://amzn.to/2Q381YV Magnet Backers: https://amzn.to/3lkx8lu 8x2mm magnets: https://amzn.to/3lfY71A Switch: https://amzn.to/3cvHmv6 Battery terminals: https://amzn.to/2OqNZXH Positive to negative battery terminals: https://amzn.to/3qGADDS
