Culture: Neolithic Material: Dolerite Dims: L 11cm, W 5.1cm Accession No: HCA 174 Current Location: The Hunt Museum, Limerick. This adze weighs 219g, has a plano-convex cross section, curved, asymmetrical edges, asymmetrical blade and rounded, almost flat, butt. The blade and faces are ground and the blade is polished and sharp. Pecking is on the face and butt. One face has a groove along the centre of its length. The findspot is Newcastle, Ballymahon, Longford. Dolerite is predominantly found in the north-east. More.
