Culture: Neolithic Material: Dolerite Dims: L 7.1cm, W 7cm Accession No: HCA 124 Current Location: The Hunt Museum, Limerick. This axe weighs 196g, has an oval cross-section, curved, asymmetrical edges, an asymmetrical blade and damaged butt. The blade, sides and faces are ground and polished. Remnant peck marks are visible on the highly polished faces. A clean break crosses the centre of the axe. The findspot is Rockbarton Bog, Lough Gur, Limerick. Dolerite is predominantly found in the north-east. More.
