This is a “nearly-to-scale” model of the iconic Monument to the Conquerors of Space (Покорителям космоса) in Moscow. With 107 meters height and mostly made of titanium, the monument is dedicated to the soviet people involved in the space exploration. Right underneath the monument is located the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics which explores the achievements of those people. The model can be either assembled for general display or as a lamp, if using translucent filament. It is not recommended to downscale the model considering the small dimensions of the rocket fins. The rocket on the tip of the monument has two versions available: a version split in half to allow printing without supports and a one-body version which requires support. The main monument body has different versions for hollow and solid body as well as versions with the body split in half. It is recommended to test a “dry fit” prior any permanent gluing. The glue recommended varies based on the type of filament. As a starting point, conventional CA glue can be used as well as model kits glues, the later one allowing a bit more of time to align and adjust the parts. The rocket is glued to the top f the model using a 1 mm guide hole. If available, use a 1 mm drill bit to clean the hole and a 1 mm wire for a proper attachment. As an alternative solution, a 1 mm wire/paperclip could be heated and inserted in the guide hole, making a tight fit. If using the split version of the body, ensure a proper cleaning (minor sanding if necessary) on both faces to be glued.
