This project is an early release and will get finished! This is a part of my cheap smart home series. This design should be versatile enough to be used on a wide variety of 15 inch notebooks and laptops. I found an old Laptop with a broken housing in the trash can. After I powered it, the electronics were still working. So I started to design this frame. The idea was to use this as a server for my DIY smart home (ioBroker), but since the display was still working i wanted to be able to use it as well. I really love the look of electronics so I made the back and one side out of a clear acrylic sheet. So the mainboard and all parts of computer are well visible and are lit up by the backlight of the LCD panel. The display is held by brackets with M3 screws. If you remove those, the display can be taken out and you have easy excess to the electronics.  All ports of the laptop are still usable and can be covered with a slider. The power plug and button are easily excessible at the right side. Two USB-Ports are on the inside because, one is connected to a Wemos D1 mini which gives the server the ability to control 433Mhz devices. The wemos and the 433Mhz receiver are planned to be mounted inside the frame. The other port is going to have a wireless keyboard dongle connected. Now it is standing in the middle of the room and displays a slideshow of my favourite photos, while providing the computing power for my smart home. Hardware needed: 10x M3 5mm Screws  some mounting screws and nuts for the mainboard (standoffs and hdd bracket are printable)
