One of the largest failure points of the eBay k40 CO2 laser is the intensity control as well as one of the easiest and most productive upgrades too. As the intensity control is really noting more than 1k ohm potentiometer of low quality so we upgraded ours with higher a grade carbon film unit (see more here: https://amzn.to/2Tw0XTN ). With this upgrade we reduced the risk of future failures, improved resolution as well as added scale which we can reference to the current meter to create a recipe cheat sheet. However we bumped into to, two small issues the first being a protrusion on the potentiometer so we designed a custom shim so it sets flat and also a cover for the scale to sit into to make it asedicly look better by covering some of the graphics which now looked out of place with new scale.
