Color:

A quirky little skull based on the day of the dead festival aesthetic from Mexico. This model is flat and designed as a stencil or a coaster but it could also be stuck to a wall for a spooky halloween decoration. Can be used as a coaster if just printed flat (designed to be the right size for mugs and glasses). Can also be used for a halloween decoration or for the base of a 3D pen project. Print in a bigger scale to produce placemats! The last picture shows the shadow on the glass bed.  print onto a glass bed so you get a gloss finish on one surface. Use slow first layer speed so it sticks even with the high detail. I like to use a few perimeters so you get the contours around the holes to give you a cool effect. If using this as a coaster for hot drinks you may want to use a more temperature resistant material then PLA, such as ABS or nylon so it doesn't warp. (Although I have had no problems so far.)Post-Printing3D Pen Project1) Print the object (if you want to create the illusion use black or a dark colour). 2) Add colour and detail to the print with a 3D pen to produce a more festival inspired look. You can also add depth to the print with this method. Add colour in the gaps and build up the eyes to create an eye-popping effect! (You need to build up the eyes a fair bit to create the illusion). You could stop here for a cool decoration in itself. 3) Print the object again in white or another lighter colour. 4) Join the two parts together to create the illusion (with a 3D pen) a bigger separation will make the illusion more obvious. Print at a bigger scale to really exaggerate the detail and make pushing plastic into the gaps easier.
