Six-shot cylinder revolver, commonly known as a colt (from the name of the inventor and first designer of this type of weapon, Samuel Colt). The weapon has a smooth, octagonal barrel with a gunsmithing mark “E” on its base on the right. The revolver handle was decorated with brass plating and with a pattern of acanthus leaves and a vine, whose twig was finished with a decorative bird's head. The slightly convex stock head was fitted with a pin. The weapon was made under the Lefaucheux license - it has a magazine for metal cartridges (called pinfire cartridges). This type of cartridges was invented by a gunsmith Casimir Lefaucheux and patented in 1854 by his son, Eugène Lefaucheux. This type of weapon was used, for example by the French Navy and the insurgents of the Polish January Uprising.
