This bone was scanned using photogrammetry at MUSE - Museo delle Scienze, Trento. It is a bear rib coming from the Late Upper Palaeolithic site of Cornafessa rockshelter located in the prealpine belt of Northeastern Italy. This site is interpreted as a hunting camp, seasonally occupied by palaeolithic hunter-gatherers in order to mainly hunt brown bears. This rib is an exceptional finding since it shows an injurie caused by the strong impact with an arrowhead, representing the first direct proof of a bear hunted by using bow and arrow.
