Description: A maiolica tazza (plate or dish) with a highly polished glaze. It has a ribbed stem and circular foot. It is decorated internally in the centre with a scene of a woman in profile (Bella Donna) smelling a flower. A sunburst or dog-tooth motif surrounds this scene with stylized sunflowers. The rim is decorated with a series of concentric lines between which there is a fish-scale decoration. The sunburst and floral motifs are repeated on the exterior. Italian, Deruta. Date Made: 15th century AD
