This Head of a Gaul is considered one of the most impressive pieces of Alexandrian Art from the 2nd Century BC. The stiff hair and moustache are characteristic features of a Gaul. The original work, housed in the Egyptian Museum, was probably found in Arsinoe/Krokodilopolis, nowadays known as Kom Fais in the Fayum (Egypt).  Even though much of the sculpture is broken off, it is still easy to read the warrior's sense of pain conveyed through the contracted eyebrows, turned head and shaggy hair.
