Hey guys! This is a submission for Make Anything's polypanel design competition. It is a wind up mechanism that will allow users to make all sorts of spinning creations! This polypanel also has a rachet-style design (spins one way and catches the other) allowing it to freespin like a bearing in one direction, but work as a wind up mechanism in the other. It prints in 3 parts - The base, the coil, and the lid. There are a number of variants for each part, and they all work with each other, making this a truly modular design. The coil is snapped onto the base, and then the lid snaps on top to create a "sandwich" with the parts. There is also a flipped version of each part, that spins in the opposite direction. These are connected to each other in the exact same way, and allow for even more to be made (You can't just flip the model in your slicer because the the PolyPanel joints would be flipped as well). Note: - While this model is easy to print, for it work, your 3D printers tolerance needs to be dialled in decently well. - It may be herd to press the Lid to the Base for the first couple of tries, but that won't stop it from working, and it will wear in and become easier the more you disconnect the parts. - Ignore the numbers at the end of some of the file names (some files end in -1 or -2) They aren't named like that on my computer I promise. - There are 2 Base parts (Pentagon, Hexagon), 2 Coil parts (Thick and Thin), and 5 Lid parts (Triangle, Square, Rhombus, Pentagon, Hexagon), allowing for 20 different combinations.
