Hi friends, Do you play acoustic guitar? Are you tired to break your family or friends (or yourself) ears during your guitar training? Welcome, you're like me! My poor quality playing is an ordeal for all ears around. So I decided to make an end-of-torture tool. This kind of object exists in shops but this one is made with low cost material (except the printer of course, but I suppose you have one, no? ;) This tool lets you easily adjust the pressure on the cords and therefore the mute level. And, very important if you love your guitar, it doesn't touch the table. No risk of damage. You'll need: a kitchen sponge (you can try other more or less flexible material) a 30mm M3 nut and bolt an elastic How to do? Print the two parts. The part with the groove is the lower, the one that will be near the guitar table.Cut the kitchen sponge 20mm large and 15mm high including the scraper for the higher part (see picture)Cut another piece of sponge of 10mm large and 5mm high for the lower part.Once printed I suggest you to embed the head of the bolt in the print (see picture). The aim is to have nothing that can damage the guitar. Insert the pieces of sponge (see picture). You can glue the small one in it's groove (the one in the lower part).. It is not necessary for the other one. Then, you have to adjust the distance between the two parts. I can't give you instructions about this distance because all depend of the density of your kitchen sponge and mute level you want. Try and you'll find. When all is ok, you can glue the nut to block it but I don't suggest you that because it could be necessary to change the kitchen sponge one day. To use it, you have to drag the tool along the cords and use the elastic to maintain the opposite side of bolt. That's all. I hope that be useful. If you have suggestions or make one, feel free to let a comment or post a picture. Bonjour chez vous.
