Manual device to enable home brewers to separate yeast from beer. I have not had the oportunity to print this myself, as this model is intended to be submitted to the Lisa Sinterit design challenge. Thus it would not print easily on a regular FDM/FFF printer since it would be hard to get rid of the support material. The idea is to connect two tubes to the front and one to the back, and then connect some sort of rotary machine (ie. drill, dremel or similar) to make the inner part rotate. The speed of the centrifuge will then sling the heavier parts out of the inner part and further out the tube on the back. Since I have not had the chance to print this object yet, it is unclear to me if it will work intentionally. But the principle should be right (in theory). Usage: 1. Connect the beer to be filtered to the center hole on the front. 2. Connect a tube right next to the center hole on the front where the filtered beer will be extracted. 3. Connect a tube on the back where the yeast will be deposited, or just deposit it into a bucket. 4. Connect a drill or similar to the axis on the back. 5. Start the drill 6. Keep the push-block pressed in (the cylindrical part of the front with four holes on the side) 7. Start sending the beer to be filtered through the device with the push-block pressed. 8. When yeast builds up in the center, open the push-block occasionaly to sling the yeast out of the center part. 9. Keep moving the push-block back and forth from time to time to sling the yeast out and push it out the back. That is how it is supposed to work, and I really hope that I will have time to test it before I make a final submit to the Lisa Sinterit Contest. If you have an STS printer and do print this object, please drop a line or two about your experiene. Further improvements: I would like to include some kind of mechanism that will move the push block back and forth automatically, but I need to calibrate it before I can implement it properly. If you want to play with the different parts, you can view the Fusion 360 object at my Fusion 360 hub.
