This was initially done as an exemplar for my students, but I thought I would share it with the whole world. For fans of Portal/Portal 2, this is intended to be a speaker box designed around the Companion Cube. The circuit kit for the speaker is not my own design but can be purchased from here http://www.designability.com.au/classroom-projects/stereo-ipod-dock and has evenything in the kit you need, minus the solder, soldering iron and music source. The base cube is a 100mm cube. All files for building this are supplied and the name of the file indicates the part name, the colour I used and the number of prints of the file required, e.g. Knob-White1 means it is the volume knob, white material, 1 print required. The PCB can be held in place by the nut on the potentiometer (volume control) and there are supports for this inside the box.Speakers are held in by contact glue as are the white parts glued to the grey box.Part “Heart-White6” may need to be scaled down to 98% depending on the tolerances of your printer as I found it to be a tough fit in the hole on the outside of the box or just trim with a craft knife. I used a Flashforge Guider 2 to print my version. On the other hand, if you choose to print this and use it for nothing more than it being a cool model of a companion cube, go right ahead.Enjoy! If there are any problems, recommendations, requests, etc, please feel free to let me know and I can re-upload.I will also shortly be uploading the pattern for the standard box students use which is laser cut 3mm acrylic; same circuit kit, just a bit quicker and cheaper to make.
