This is an anti-algae system for the aquarium like the twinstar. This one is called Double Pulsar, or simply pulsar. Why make your own Double Pulsar? People make their own anti algae systems, and this one is meant for ease of making: the square shape makes it easier to cut your stainless steel mesh grid (40x40mm for this version); everything is friction fit, so no need for glue; it is customizable (multiple seprarator thicknesses to chose from in order to increase/decrease the bubbling rate/current used); made of only 3 parts; slits to let the cables easily pass; a slot to insert a succion cup. Assembly instructions Print at least one base (DoublePulsar40x40base....).The value in mm after base indicate the maximum separator thickness that this base can accept. Print at least one séparator (all those fits in the base, only those with a thickness lower or equal to the value mentioned on the base will fit entirely IN the unit, so for a 5mm base, pick a 2,3 or 5mm separator; print the DoublePulsar40x40externalgrid1.5mm file; cut two stainless steel mesh grid squares of 40x40mm, or slightly less; solder one wire on each grid; put the first grid in the base, with the wire exiting trough one slit on the side; put the separator you chose onto the grid, and press it into the base (it should be a tight fit); put the second grid over the separator, with the wire exiting trough the second slit; put the external grid over the SS mesh grid, and push it down to clamp the mesh grid between the separator and the external grid; put the succion cup in the slot on the side. Voila, your pulsar is assembled! How to use it Now, feed electric current (something like 12V, 2A trough the system) and watch the bubbles rise! Experiment with different separator sizes, and let me know how it worked :) Beware : the current must not be let peranantly running, it will eat up your mesh grids otherwise. It should run 10-30s every 20-30minutes, or something like that... For that purpose, you can use a home made, programmed system; or a solution that provides programmable PWM outputs, like Rlieh, a completely programmable aquarium/terrarium controller.
