Author/Origin: Richard KimRelevant Mission: Lunar Quest Tycho's features are so steep and sharp because the crater is only about 110 million years old -- young by lunar standards. A very popular target with amateur astronomers, Tycho is located at 43.37?S, 348.68?E, and is about 51 miles (82 km) in diameter. The summit of the central peak is 1.24 miles (2 km) above the crater floor. The distance from Tycho's floor to its rim is about 2.92 miles (4.7 km).

About the author:
NASA
NASA's vision: To reach for new heights and reveal the unknown so that what we do and learn will benefit all humankind. To do that, thousands of people have been working around the world -- and off of it -- for more than 50 years, trying to answer some basic questions. What's out there in space? How do we get there? What will we find? What can we learn there, or learn just by trying to get there, that will make life better here on Earth?
