This project introduces students using the BBC micro:bit to the fundamentals of Computer Aided Design (CAD). This .stl file can be used as the basis of a design for a personalised avatar. The micro:bit will snap securely into the rectangular indent shown. Students can add shapes around the base so long as they don’t alter the central structure shown in the photos printed in red filament. MyMiniFactory is excited to see what designs students come up with!   Instructions: Go to your preferred web-based 3D modelling software (look out for the new software from MyMiniFactory called WeDesign coming out in a few months!). Tinkercad and SketchUp are good ones to use. Familiarise yourself with the site you are using and how to make a basic model e.g. a block Create a new blank design. Import the avatar1.stl file downloaded from this page You are now ready to create your avatar! Add shapes to the model and explore the wonderful world of CAD! Once you are satisfied with your avatar, export it as an stl file and print it. Take a look at the 'Example micro:bit Avatar' (also uploaded to my profile) for inspiration!
