Mac pro G5 DVD drive enclosure I loved the elegant lines of this Mac Pro and I always thought it would be cool to make a 'mini' enclosure for the original Mac mini. But before I do that I thought I try the idea by using it as a enclosure for my DVD burner I bought on Ebay. Its made in two parts, one is the body, the other the lid to be glued on the lid of the DVD burner. It just finished 3D printing and assemblying so i will clean it up before posting the final photos. PLEASE PRINT PHOTOS WHEN YOU HAVE MADE ONE I hope you enjoy this and let me know if anyone is interested one for the mac mini? Check my other Apple related designs to suit iphones and ipad minis Ten years ago, Apple introduced the Power Macintosh G5, the first of a new generation of Macs based on IBM’s PowerPC G5 architecture. Unveiled by Steve Jobs during the 2003 World Wide Developer’s Conference. Benj Edwards , Macworld   Instructions The body and the lid are in one file side by side. Print it then insert your DVD burner in the slot provided. I have allowed extra room to suit most sizes I will post the maximum dimensions the DVD burner can be if you want. then insert the burner, and add support where required with foam or anything that will NOT bend the frame of the burner or it will not open smoothly anymore. use double sided tape to put on the mac lid onto the DVD burner lid, making sure the door closes and you have clearances all round. glue everything (make sure you glue the lid with the DVD lid open in case you spill glue and the mechanism will never open again. enjoy.
