This is my entry for the "Raise3d and Capcom Monster Hunter Generations Weapon Contest”, I wanted to mix several weapons that I liked together to create a new weapon concept based on the Monster Hunter universe and style, I feel like I accomplished this and I really like what I came up with. I drew my inspiration from the great swords and and lances as well as the wyvren in the game, I find their art styles very interesting. Additionally I also made a wyvren skull kind of like what you see around the game when you find skeletal remains of a creature in an area, then I also created a little felyne companion figurine, with can act as a stand or display piece or as a collectible figurine, this is to give different users options on how they would like to print and display the weapon in their own liking.  There are both large scale and miniature versions of the great sword that can printed, there are versions modeled in 7in (figurine size), 15in (I printed this one) and a larger 30in, though if you have a large enough printer you could scale them up even larger than that. I also made the the larger swords hollow to save printing time and filament but also to accommodate lighting if printed in a transparent material, I really like the glowing energy effects you see on some of the creatures in monster hunter and wanted to allow for that if someone wanted to light the project. The larger version can be displayed atop the wyvern skull or the whole thing can be printed in miniature with the little felyne companion as a complete figurine holding the sword. I hope you guys enjoy and if you print it I hope you have as much fun as I did.  Please let me know if you do print it, I would love to hear your feedback and your experience with the project.   I posted some photos of before I painted as well to give an idea of where the print started from. Also I will have a writeup on my site as soon as I can get some time, on the whole project from printing to painting to finishing. Some afterthoughts... I would have loved to have done more for sure I think that I could have pushed myself further, 3D printing is new for me I have only been doing it for about 8 months, though I have been 3D modeling for years so that I am more use to and I think I would have done a bit more with the paint if not for getting sick for several weeks during competition and running out of time. All said and done I am very happy with the results of the print and the over project completion.
