An exposed double edged razor blade lying flat can be dangerous to try to pick up, especially in a medical environment where they may be contaminated. I designed this thing to easily pick up and release them; it may come in handy in other situations, too. The lifter consists of a piston with a small magnet on one end. With the cap all the way down, the magnet butts up to the edge of the cylinder. When the cap is lifted, the magnet retracts away from the end, releasing the blade. Update: v2 modifications for one handed use. To avoid contaminating the lifter itself, you could place part of a latex glove or plastic bag over the tip. Update: v2 ring was a little fragile, cap-v3 beefs it up. Instructions Print the three parts with flat faces down. The piston goes in the cylinder, and the cap is glued onto the end of the end rod. There is a circular indentation on the cap to aid in alignment. A 1/8" x 1/16" (nominal: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0065O63BK) neodymium magnet gets glued into the hole on the end of the piston.
