Material: Walrus Ivory. Accession no: BM 005. Current location: The Hunt Museum, Limerick. This is a walrus ivory plaque or carved panel of the crucifixion. The panel is oblong in shape with raised borders. The borders are pierced with eight holes, indicating that the panel was attached to a larger object. The panel shows the figure of Christ resting upon a suppedaneum beneath the hand of God. The cross has raised borders with the symbols of the four Evangelists shown at the corners of the plaque.
