Gabrielle Petit (1893-1916) was a Belgian nurse who spied for the British Secret Service during WWI. Executed in 1916, she became a prominent historical figure in Belgium.This statue of Gabrielle Petit was created by Égide Rombaux (1865-1942), a Belgian symbolist sculptor.It is located in Place Saint-Jean, Brussels. The purple stains are not a processing error, but a graffiti that was visible when the scan was captured.
