This model is my 2nd submission to the ScanTheWorld contest. Las Fallas is the most important festival of the city of Valencia, held in March every year. A "Falla" is an artistic monument, composed by different sculptures, which makes criticism and sattire of society. More than 400 of these monuments are placed in the streets, some of them being enormous. These monuments are ephemeral, as the last day of the festival, St. Joseph Day, they are all burned as a symbol of leaving the past behind and making a new, fresh beginning, marking the start of Spring. The festival was included in the Unesco Untangible Heritage due to its really important artistic value. This tradition has always been special to me, my family infected me their love for them (my father even made small fallas next to my house) I have really good memories of these days, gathering with family and friends, making tours around the best fallas or launching fireworks. And I always get emotional watching a monument burn. As these art pieces get destroyed by the flames, I thought it would be a nice idea to create a digital record of the monuments in 3D, so people can appreciate the beauty of these magnificient works.  This Falla was next to my grandma's house in Zapadores Street, it was the children's falla. (There is also the adult Falla). This one talks about the our society's lack of respect for nature and habits we could apply live a sustainable life. It turned out to be a quite tricky scan, as there are many statues, with holes and thin shapes, and getting near or over wasn't possible. I used a OnePlus8 attached to a selfie stick and recorded a video of the falla, giving three turns around it. Then I processed it in RealityCapture and cleaned it in Blender. Where I would travel if I won? I would take a trip to Greece, home to one of the most influential ancient civilizations. Place of epic battles and philosophers, it would be a pleasure scanning the amazing temples and statues that still survive along the Mediterranean vegetation. Here is the model with textures
