This larger than life marble sculpture depicts Charles Martel, a Frankish statesman and military leader who was a De Facto leader of Francia from 718 until his death. He halted the Islamic advance into Wester Europe at the Battle of Tours. The sculptor of the piece is unknown but it was cleaned in the 19th Century and put on permanent display at the Palace of Versailles.  This object is part of "Scan The World". Scan the World is a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from across the globe for the public to access for free.
