This is a marble sculpture depicting Venus with a Mirror. The name of the sculptor is unknown as the archival information is missing and only the name remains. This copy can be found in Warandepark in Brussels. Venus depicted with a mirror is a surprisingly rare sight in art, especially sculpture. The most well known piece of art depicting the scene is Titian's painting (oil on canvas) of 1555. Venus gazes at her reflection in a mirror held aloft by Cupid, while a second putto reaches up to crown her with a wreath of flowers.    This object is part of "Scan The World". Scan the World is a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from across the globe for the public to access for free. Scan the World is an open source, community effort, if you have interesting items around you and would like to contribute, email [email protected] to find out how you can help.
