Samos (Greece), sanctuary of Here, acquired in 1915Marble, around 530 BC The very fragmentary torso represents a Hoplite, Greek infantry soldier in full armour with Ionic helmet and cuirass. This statue made of grey marble was set up as a votive offering in the Heraion of Samos in the late Archaic period. The donor's name is unknown, the identity of the warrior remains open. This object is part of "Scan The World".
