The statue of Mude, (dumb), made in stone of Angoulème, is the allegorical representation to the glory of the therapeutic virtues of the waters of Salies-de-Bearn. From a height of 2 meters, it was carved by Jean Lucien Tisné (1875-1918), originating from a neighboring village, Salles-Mongiscard. It was inaugurated by Minister Léon Bérard in 1920 and restored by Maïtena Lougarot in the early 2000s. The statue of the Mude is the emblem of the Baths of Salies-de-Béarn because it is the representation of salt, Beauty and youth. La Mude, goddess of places, is now the communication vector of Spa Thermal de Salies called "Les Bains de la Mude". "Prauba Muda, tonseal time!" (Poor mute still shorn!), Cry of despair of the stake-holders when the powerful deprived them of part of their "sausage account".
