This representation reminds of a royal protocol in the Bamileke population, Cameroun. In order to welcome the visitors at the palace entrance, a representative of the royal family presents a bowl filled with kola nuts. This sculpture is seen as a way to reinforce the power of the royal family. The bowl could in fact be filled with pearls or other objects symbolizing the royal power.
