This plaster sculpture by Irish artist James Heffernan (1785-1847) is a typical subject group and was exhibited at the Royal Academy. The sculptor won several prizes while a student at the Royal Academy and worked in the studios of Charles Rossi (1762-1839) and Francis Leggatt Chantrey RA (1781-1841), completing the latter's unfinished pieces after his death.
