Color:

The Virgin, sitting in front of a piece of furniture, raises her hand to her chest in surprise. The angel next to her is dressed in a tunic and has two short wings that are not very visible. He brandishes a phylactery with his left hand. In the background is a room with a bed surmounted by a canopy that is lost in a cloud. The care and richness of the details, both for the decorum and the characters, make this relief one of the masterpieces of sculpture of the sixteenth century. Bachelier has given the stage a theatrical quality amplified by a clever play of folds in draperies.
