This colossus of Amenhotep III, whose distinctive facial features are still recognizable despite their damaged state, once adorned the temple he built to Amen-Re in Luxor (ancient Thebes). The work was made in Egypt, during the reign of Amenhotep III in Dynasty 18 (1390-1352 BC), carved from black granite.   The sculpture sits in the exterior garden at The Luxor Museum. Photography and photogrammetry by Tim Kendall, Bryan Whitney, Geoff Kornfeld, and Zhejiang University
