Sidon (translated to 'fishing-town' from Biblical Hebrew) is the third-largest city in Lebanon. The area has been inhabited since very early in prehistory. Finds from various archaeological sites suggest a founding date just prior to the invention of pottery. This figurative limestone statue, now housed at The National Museum of Museum of Beirut, is thought to believe from the 7th-6th Century BC.
