Jean Baptiste baptising a catechumen This is one of the column statues belonging to the central portal of the occidental facade of Notre Dame Cathedral. The statues are five in total and represent in order from left to right: Jean Baptiste baptising a catechumen, Moses elevating the serpent, Abraham sacrificing Isaac, Simeon and Jesus and King David. The renovation that took place in 1846, was able to give back the missing parts to the original statues that had been taken and destroyed in 1793.
