Sledge with Mythological frieze, Second half of the 18th century, Liège (Belgium), wood, sheet, metal. Musée du Cinquantenaire (Brussels, Belgium). Made with ReMake and ReCap from AutoDesk. The crate, semi-circular at the back, marries, at the front, the shape of a shell painted in silver gray. The enveloping back is lined with blue fabric. The seat cushion conceals a storage compartment. The outside of the box is painted in imitation of a reddish-brown and beige marble, bordered by a frieze where mythological creatures of light shade contrast against the dark background. The molded skates describe a pretty S movement and present, at their junction, a carved openwork floral pattern. The ornamental repertoire of this sled, combining elements Louis XV and Louis XVI, encourages to locate it in the second half of the eighteenth century.
