A rose window or Catherine window is often used as a generic term applied to a circular window, but is especially used for those found in churches of the Gothic architectural style. They would usually be divided into segments by stone mullions and tracery. This marble rose window comes from the Church of Santa Maria della Spina and was probably finished by a Pisan sculptor in the 14th century.
