Although Catstensz Pyramid is the lowest in elevation of the Seven Summits it is one of the most difficult to climb. It is surrounded by the dense jungle of New Guinea, populated by warring tribes some of whose grandparents had a taste for human flesh. The combination of remoteness, recent politcal unrest and the most extensive stretches of technical rock on any of the Seven Summits make this as much a challenge as any of the Summits. You can watch a video tutorial on how to make your own mini mountains at   This is part of my series of "collectible mountains". All the models in this series are rendered at 1:100000. The model represents an area 10km x 10km. The bottom of the model sits at sea level so the different mountains can be accurately compared. Have you even wondered just how much bigger Everest is than Mt Shasta? Now you can hold them both in your hands and compare. We talked about making 3d models like this and a whole lot more about 3d printing on the 3D Printing Today podcast available on iTunes, Stitcher radio or direct from the source at http://threedprintingtoday.libsyn.com/ Complete instructions on how to make models from digital elevation data can be found on my blog at http://www.the3dprintedfuture.com/shapespeare/?p=1
