Culture: Tudor. Material: Earthenware. Accession No: HCM 263. Current Location: The Hunt Museum, Limerick. This jug is small, squat with a spherical body and partially glazed with a mottled yellowish-green glaze. The wheel-thrown body sits on a flat base and a tall neck rises to a flattened, slightly everted rim containing a small spout. The fabric is buff with the upper two thirds glazed. A strap handle is attached on one side from the shoulder to the rim. The body is ridged with larger applied decoration encircling the body just below the handle and just above the handle where it is attached to the shoulder. This decoration comprises two simple bands. The glaze is unevenly applied and drip dried in sections almost to the base. There are larger areas of glaze missing and chipped. More.
