Color:

The portrait type of the Macedonian king, named after the ebst copy in Schloss Erbach (Germany), is the earliest of its kind. The portrait shows Alexander as a young man with long hair - a reminiscence to a Homeric ideal of beauty for heroes - characteristically thrown back from a central parting (anastolé).
