This small pediment crowned the aedicule of the funerary monument erected by Quadratilla to his father Apthonetus, presumibly a libertus of Greek origin, as can be deducted from the Latin inscription on the pediment. the image of the deceased whithin a clypeus  (clipeus a round frame in the shape of a shield) reflects the styl;e used in portraits of emperor Hadrian. Although fragmentary, the inscription provides information on the deceased and the dedicator, as well as the place wheer the monument stood abnd the tomb's exclusively familiar nature.
