Towering over 18,000 feet, Russia's Mt. Elbrus is Europe's highest peak earning it its place in the Seven Summits. It is a magnificent mountain, although not a terribly hard climb. In 1997 a team of Russians actually drove/winched a Land Rover onto the lower East summit. You can watch a video tutorial on how to make your own mini mountains at   This is part of my series of "collectible mountains". All the models in this series are rendered at 1:100000. The model represents an area 10km x 10km. The bottom of the model sits at sea level so the different mountains can be accurately compared. Have you even wondered just how much bigger Everest is than Mt Shasta? Now you can hold them both in your hands and compare. We talked about making 3d models like this and a whole lot more about 3d printing on the 3D Printing Today podcast available on iTunes, Stitcher radio or direct from the source at http://threedprintingtoday.libsyn.com/ Complete instructions on how to make models from digital elevation data can be found on my blog at http://www.the3dprintedfuture.com/shapespeare/?p=1
