This monument is a tribute to Milanese goldsmith Ranieri Girotti who founded the Academy of Milan. The style of this monument may remind us of the "all antica" movement in the Italian Renaissance. During those times, Italian artists were seeking to recreate the monuments from the glorious past of their country: the Roman Empire.  In this respect one may observe the perfect symmetry of the sculpture, and how this symmetry only serves the emphasis on the medallion figuring Girotti's head. This architectural style from a glorious past as well as the Renaissance-medallion promise an eternal glory to Girotti, along all the famous Italian artists.
