This Kushan-era (200 BC to AD 200) figurine mold was 3D scanned at HNB Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, India, with a NextEngine Desktop 3D scanner. It was scanned as part of a collaboration between HNB Garhwal University and the Virtual Curation Laboratory at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). The goal of this collaborative project is to highlight the rich cultural resources held in trust from North India at HNB Garhwal University and to make these resources accessible to VCU students and others from around the globe. This project was supported by the VCU Globe Digital Classroom Initiative award. The digital cast of this mold is visible here: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/digital-cast-from-figurine-mold-43284 .

About the author:
VCL
The Virtual Curation Laboratory at VCU formed through a project with the U.S. Department of Defense’s Legacy Program to develop a digital data project that incorporates the use of a three-dimensional object scanner in recording American Indian and historic artifacts for analysis and conservation. The Virtual Curation Laboratory now partners with institutions across the planet to 3D scan paleontological, archaeological, and historically significant items with the goal of sharing them freely with the world.
