Polish philosopher and poet, Mécislas Golberg, was one of the most brilliant commentators on the work of Bourdelle. The sculptor made this portrait while Goldberg was suffering from tuberculosis. The poet asked that it was inscribed with this quote from his Prométhée repentant: "Peace does not reign over the heights."
