The sculpture here is known as a masculine behu lawolo figure and these are usually impressive stone statues carved in honour of ancestors and as a marker of remembrance. It may have been interred as a symbol of masculinity, wealth and status. It is now on display at the Quai Branly museum and was scanned for us by a volunteer using roughly 50 photographs.   This object is part of "Scan The World". Scan the World is a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from across the globe for the public to access for free. Scan the World is an open source, community effort, if you have interesting items around you and would like to contribute, email [email protected] to find out how you can help.
