This limestone ostracon (a broken piece of pottery, usually a vase) comes from the upper part of a standing figure depicting Thoth. Toth was an Egyptian deity, commonly depicted in art with the head of a baboon or an ibis. The Greek equivalent of the god Thoth was Hermes: god of wisdom, writing, sicence, magic, art and the dead.
